Centric: Jacob

Flashback
Jacob
Sometime during the 1800s, a blond man is in a stone-columned room beneath the four-toed statue, spinning thread for a tapestry he is weaving. He is wearing a handmade white tunic and using a long-bladed knife. Outside on the beach, he snares a fish in a wicker trap, then fillets and cooks it on a rock over a fire. As he eats, he watches a ship sailing on the horizon. Another man, wearing a handmade black shirt, approaches him. He asks how the ship found the Island and accuses the blond man of having brought it there. The man claims that it "always ends the same," with destruction and corruption, when people are brought to the Island. The blond man replies that it only ends once and anything before that is just progress. The unnamed man asks his companion if he knows how badly he wants to kill him, and the man replies with a simple "Yes." The gray-haired man declares that one day he will find a "loophole" which will allow him to do so and the blond man informs him that he will be waiting for him at that exact spot. As the man's nemesis walks away, the statue is finally shown in its colossal entirety, revealing it to be a statue of Tawaret, the Egyptian goddess of fertility. The nemesis says as he leaves, "Always nice talking to you, Jacob."

Kate
Sometime in the late 80's, a young Kate instructs her friend, Tom, on their upcoming mission; Tom is visibly holding a toy airplane. The two enter a convenience store and Tom keeps a lookout while Kate attempts to steal a lunchbox. While at first it seems as if she has succeeded, she's caught on her way out the door by the shopkeeper, Mr. Springer, who threatens to call the police and her mother. Jacob appears behind Kate, and offers to pay for the lunchbox, which satisfies the shopkeeper, who warns Kate never to return to the store without her parents. Jacob then makes Kate promise to never steal again. She agrees and Jacob teasingly touches her nose.

Sawyer
In 1976, a funeral is being held for Mrs. and Mr. Ford, while a young James Ford quietly looks on as their their coffins loaded into a hearse. Later on, James sits on the steps of a church, and is writing his letter to Anthony Cooper, known to him as Tom Sawyer. Jacob approaches James and grazes his fingers as he hands him a pen to replace his own, which has just run out of ink. Jacob tells James that he is very sorry about his mother and father. Immediately after Jacob's departure, James' uncle, Doug, prompts him to get ready to leave for the cemetery. After James refuses to tell him what he is writing, Doug reads the first half of the letter James wrote and tells him he shouldn't seek revenge but move on because, "what's done is done". He makes James promise he will not finish writing the letter and James agrees.

Sayid
In 2005, Sayid and Nadia are three blocks from the intersection of North La Brea Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, discussing how to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Sayid says they need to find the perfect place to celebrate, and suggests Paris or Berlin. Nadia jokingly remarks that she would settle for finding her sunglasses. As they start to cross La Brea, Jacob approaches Sayid and asks for directions, mentioning that he is "lost". Nadia continues across the street and turns back to face Sayid and Jacob to say that she has found her sunglasses. A car hits her and Jacob touches Sayid's shoulder in concern and then Sayid runs to her side as the driver drives away. As she lies mortally wounded on the street, she asks Sayid, in Arabic, to take her home.

Ilana
Sometime prior to 2007, Ilana lies in a hospital bed in Russia, heavily bandaged, when a nurse arrives and informs her that a person has came to visit her; she insists that Ilana should see him as he is her first visitor. Jacob arrives, and apologizes to her in Russian, saying he should have come to visit her earlier. In English, he asks her to help him and she says she will. He is not shown making physical contact with her, but he is shown wearing black gloves.

Locke
In 2000, Jacob is reading a book while sitting on a bench outside a building in Tustin, California. Behind him, John Locke falls to the ground after being pushed out of an eighth story window by Anthony Cooper. As bystanders rush to the scene, Jacob calmly closes his book and approaches John. John appears to have died on impact, but when Jacob touches his shoulder, Locke gasps and opens his eyes. Jacob tells him everything will be all right and he is sorry this has happened to him.

Sun & Jin
At their wedding, Jin and Sun exchange vows. Jin claims that being separated from his wife would be much like the earth being separated from the sky. At the reception, after Aunt Soo congratulates them, Jacob approaches and says he wants to give them his blessing. Touching each one of them on the shoulder with each of his hands, he tells them in Korean that their love is special and not to take it for granted. After he leaves, Sun and Jin are both perplexed at who exactly he was and Jin remarks that his Korean was excellent.

Jack
Sometime in the 2000s, while Jack is performing his first solo surgery, he accidentally nicks the patient's dural sac. He begins to panic, but Christain tells him to count to five and that if Jack doesn't calm down, Christian will do the surgery himself and the girl will be paralyzed for the rest of her life. Later, after his Apollo Bar gets stuck in the vending machine, Jack tells Christian he's angry at him because he embarrassed him in front of his team. Christian implies that Jack doesn't have faith in himself. As Jack starts to walk away, Jacob offers him the candy bar from the machine. He grazes Jack's hand as he hands it over and says, "I guess it needed a little push."

Juliet
Juliet's father and mother tell her and Rachel they have to talk about something important. Juliet thinks they are going to tell them they have to move again, but Rachel is upset and tells Juliet their parents are getting a divorce. They say they love each other but they are just not meant to be together. Juliet is enraged and runs off, refusing their offers to help her cope with the situations. She cannot understand how two people can love each other but not stay together. Her mother tells her she will understand when she is older, but Juliet shouts that she does not want to understand.

Hurley
In January 2008, Hurley is being released from prison. He tries to convince the prison clerk that he shouldn't be released because he is a murderer. The prison clerk says he's been discharged and should go to a cab standing in front of the building. Hurley shares a cab with Jacob, and on the seat between them is a guitar case. Hurley assumes Jacob just got out of jail too, but Jacob addresses him as Hugo and says he came specifically to meet him. When Hurley assumes that Jacob must be one of the dead people he sees and talks with, Jacob assures him that he is not dead. He asks Hurley why he won't go back to the island. Hurley says he believes he is cursed and has caused all of the death and tragedy that has surrounded him. Jacob tells him he is blessed to have the ability to speak with his dead friends and assures Hurley that he is not crazy. He tells Hurley about Ajira Flight 316 and says all he has to do is be on that plane, which is leaving in 24 hours. He touches Hurley on the shoulder and reminds him that it is his choice. As Jacob leaves the cab, Hurley tells him he left his guitar. Jacob says it's not his guitar and walks away.

On the Island
1977
Kate, Juliet and Sawyer are on the submarine leaving the Island. Kate convinces Juliet and Sawyer they need to stop Jack from detonating a hydrogen bomb on the island. They manage to break free and force the captain to surface. They tell him to continue on his course as soon as they leave the submarine. When they arrive on the Island, they are greeted by Vincent the dog, who has been in the care of Rose and Bernard for the past three years. Rose explains that she and Bernard are now retired and live a quiet life in their cabin near the beach, scavenging food and avoiding detection from the DHARMA Initiative. Bernard says all he and Rose care about is being together. When he says this, Juliet sees Sawyer look at Kate. Juliet says they need to get to the Barracks and Rose points them in the right direction. As they walk away, Bernard asks Juliet if she is sure she doesn't want some tea. Juliet says, "Maybe some other time."

Meanwhile, in the tunnels under the DHARMA Initiative's Barracks, Jack and Sayid dismantle the hydrogen bomb in order to remove its core, which itself consists of a small nuclear bomb. Sayid explains that the bomb core has been modified to detonate on impact. Richard Alpert and Eloise Hawking assist Jack and Sayid in entering the Barracks via the basement of Horace and Amy's house. When Eloise is about to enter the basement to secure the area, Richard knocks her out because she is pregnant and he doesn't want her traveling with them to detonate the bomb. Afterward, he leaves Sayid and Jack on their own. The Goodspeeds are not at home. There is a lot of activity at the Barracks and Jack wonders how they'll get to the Swan. Sayid dons one of Horace's DHARMA jumpsuits in order to blend in, but as they cross the quadrangle, Roger Linus recognizes and shoots him. A gunfight follows, but Jack and Sayid escape with Jin and Miles in a van driven by Hurley, who drives toward the construction site of the Swan while Jack treats Sayid's wounds. Hurley has to stop the van when he sees Juliet, Sawyer and Kate standing in his way.

Jack and Sawyer discuss the situation away from the other survivors. Sawyer expresses his opinion that "what's done is done" and that they shouldn't try to change the past. Jack claims it is his destiny to change the past and that John Locke has always been right about the island. Jack and Sawyer get into a fistfight. Juliet, who now agrees with Jack, breaks up the fight. When Sawyer asks what changed her mind, she tells him it was the way he looked at Kate. She tells him that although they love each other, they are not meant to be together, and that if they never meet then she will never have to lose him.

With everyone agreeing on the upcoming plan, although it's unclear what changed Kate's mind, Jack enters the construction site of the Swan station at the same time security officer Phil arrives with a team of armed men. On the orders of Radzinsky, Dr. Pierre Chang continues drilling into the energy source beneath the construction site.

A massive gunfight ensues, wherein the survivors gain the upper hand, allowing Jack to drop the bomb into the pit at the same time the drill hits the energy source. The bomb, however, does not detonate, and suddenly all metal items are being pulled into the pit. A toolbox knocks Jack unconscious, a rebar stabs Phil in the chest, a beam traps Dr. Chang's arm and a metal chain wraps around Juliet's midsection and drags her into the pit.

Miles manages to lift the beam and release Dr. Chang's injured hand. Sawyer and Kate grab Juliet's hand before she falls into the pit, but their efforts to save her are futile as she slips out of Sawyer's grip and falls to the bottom of the pit.
Severely injured, Juliet sees the bomb lying next to her, cushioned by the mud. She picks up a rock and hits the hydrogen bomb's fission core eight times until a flash of white ends the episode.

2007
Richard leads Locke, Ben, Sun and the Others toward the remains of the four-toed statue, where Jacob resides. Locke assigns Ben the task of killing Jacob and provides motivation by reminding Ben of the all the bad things that have happened to him. On the way, Richard addresses his skepticism to Locke, stating that though the Island has done miraculous things, it has never brought one back to life. Locke argues that he has never seen a man that has never aged, which Richard attributes to Jacob. Claiming he wants to thank Jacob, Locke tells Richard that they must also "take care of" the other Ajira passengers. Richard inquiries Locke, with his answer: "You know what I mean." The group stops to take a brief break at the Oceanic survivors' old campsite. Sun sees the crib Locke made for Aaron, and when she turns it over she finds Charlie's ring.

At the same time, a group of survivors from Ajira Flight 316, including Ilana and Bram, paddle a canoe to the main Island, bringing with them Frank Lapidus and a giant metal crate from the cargo of the plane. When Frank wakes, they tell him he may be a "candidate" and could be a friend to them. They open the crate and Frank is dismayed by what's inside. The group travels to Jacob's cabin, where they find the ring of ash disturbed. Ilana enters the cabin and finds it in disarray, deserted except for a scrap of cloth bearing a picture of the statue. Ilana tells the others that "he isn't there" and that someone else has been using it. She orders the cabin be set on fire, and the group proceeds to the statue.

At the remains of the statue, Locke and Ben appear to be surprised when Richard tells them that this is where Jacob lives. Sun asks Ben what happened to the rest of the statue. Ben says, "It was like that when I got here." Sun does not believe him, and Ben acknowledges that he is not surprised at her disbelief.

As twilight falls, Locke demands to be led to Jacob. He brings Ben with him against Richard's wishes. Richard pushes a stone door open, and Ben and Locke enter a chamber in the base of statue. Locke hands Ben a knife, telling him that "things will change" once Jacob is gone.

Outside, the Ajira group arrives, and Ilana asks for "Ricardus." Richard identifies himself and Ilana asks, "What lies in the shadow of the statue?" Richard replies in Latin, "Ille qui nos omnes servabit" ("He who will protect/save us all"). Ilana reveals the contents of the crate: John Locke's dead body, which Ilana's crew found in the cargo hold of Ajira 316. Sun looks at Locke's body and then toward the statue, and asks, "If that's Locke, then who is in there?"

Inside the chamber, Jacob immediately recognizes the true identity of Locke's impersonator and asks him if he finally found his "loophole." Jacob tells Ben that no matter what he has been told, he still has a choice, that he can simply leave so the two adversaries can discuss their "issues." Ben asks Jacob about all the times he was neglected and ignored despite his faithful service, complains that Locke was the favored one, and asks, "What about me?" Jacob's only reply is, "What about you?" Ben stabs Jacob twice. Jacob whispers to Locke, "They're coming." Locke's impersonator rolls Jacob into the fire pit in the center of the room, and Jacob burns.

Gee Whiz what a finale- Boy was I soooo wrong about a bunch of stuff.
How naive of me to think John Locke was brought back to life.
So lets get this straight Some-thing/one has made a body of John Locke and is using him to get even with his nemesis. WOW!!!!!!!!

I bet that was the black rock sailing toward the island. I wonder if Richard is on board.

Jacob seemed to have visited each one of the O6.

And the major characters dead are- Juliet? Sayid? none it never happened. Confused

Ok if 815 lands in LA. We know what will most likely become of those on the plane. But will Juliet end on the island anyway. Or not? Will Ben become leader of the others or does that never happen because Sayid doesnt shot him he doesnt get healed at the temple and never joins the others... Maybe than the purge will never happen or will it....Boy this can cause the head to spin.....

One of the best parts was when Miles sees Chang getting his arm injured and he runs to his aide saying Dad!!!......Miles really cares about his dad.

Im interested in everyone take on this end .... I kinda feel like gears got changed on this.

Wow. That was kind of awesome. I think my brain my have exploded.

So we finally got a good look at the statue and I think its Taweret, the egyptian goddess with a hippo head who was the goddess of the protection/childbirth. Her name means one who is great and, when paired with other gods, she becomes the wife of Apep, the original God of Evil (Jacob/Fake Locke?). she also sort of morphed into the Mother Goddes, Mut. The wikipedia entry has lots of stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taueret

Also I think that Fake Locke/Jacob's other person (does anyone know his name?) is Smokey. And killing Jacob is probably a mistake as they strike me as a yin and yang, a dark and light, paring. Even if Jacob's good intentions were questionable at best, he scares me so much less than the other guy.

And Jacob totally said "They're coming." Who are they? And was it just me or did Fake Locke look terrified for a second after he said that?

I kind of loved it when everyone came to Jack's aid. It was nice to see everyone working together again, even if that was a super sad scene. I cried when Juliet got pulled down into the pit. The look on Sawyer's face pretty much killed me. I want them to be together. Sawyer and Juliet is sooooo much better than Sawyer and Kate.

So Richard's original name is Ricardus, which is Latin form of Richard, which puts his birth date anywhere from the Roman Empire to the Renaissance. Also, when I searched Ricardus on google, I got a link to Richard III, which may be important as the writers are big on literary/historical reference. Also, does anyone know what he said/what language he spoke when Ilana asked him "What lies in the shadow of the statue?" I'm guess Latin but for some reason, I also think maybe Greek

Well, a whole year until next season...at least we've got a lot to talk about. .

HOLY CRAPPOLA!!!!!!!!!!

That was, without a doubt, the best episode we have ever seen.

The scene with Juliet falling is the saddest scene we've seen in 5 seasons - the look on Sawyer's face is harrowing!! So fricking sad, but brilliant too!

We should have all knew Locke wasn't really Locke all along! I know it had been theorised, but it was good to actually find out. Who is it then? Smokie? Its clearly the guy from the start, but I think he's also Smokie - he was the black-shirt against Jacob's white shirt.

Ben actually killed Jacob!!!! but then: "they're coming!" Ilana and crew I guess? who knows.

It looks like the battle for the Island is going to be between Jacob's team in Ilana and Bram, against Ben and Smokie/Locke/Black-shirt dude's team in the remainder of the others.

I'm glad everyone else stood up for Jack in the end, that shootout at the Swan was great! And Phil getting IMPALED!! OH YEAH!!! I wanted Juliet to finish him, but frankly, I'll settle for that!

Nice to see how Chang lost his arm at last.

And then: THE BOMB WENT OFF?!?!?!?!?!?!?! BUT...BUT....BUT....does that mean we're gonna go back to 2004?

Juliet and Sayid didnt die? Noone died? The whole thing never happened? But we still have a whole season to go!!!

I DONT GET IT!!!

Seriously, I cannot wait for Season 6!!!

Was this the way it was always going to happen?
The bomb going off at the swan and Sayid shooting little Ben ans Kate taking him to the others.
If Chang lost his arm b4 and he lost it again then nothing has changed its always been that way.
Im just curious if that was Jacob and his brother?
Maybe brothers from Adam and Eve in season1? The white and black rocks, white and black shirts, they were opposites.

I was think also that BTSG(black t-shirt guy) was smokie, why would he visit Locke and Locke say it was a beautiful thing and it wasnt going to hurt him?

I liked seeing Rose and Bernard again. I didnt really think they wanted to hide away and not be found. I guess they were tired of the wars.

I was heart broken over Juliet,ya the look on Sawyer broke my heart. At first I didnt like them together, but I came around I like them together more than Kate and Sawyer.

What if nothing was changed? Desmond still will not hit the button and 815 still ends up on the island?

When richard was asked the question he gave his answer in latin which was "He who will protect us".

The statue was of tarweet with the hippo head. I posted some pics of it back when it appeared earlier in the season in one of the other epi topics. I`m kinda pissed that the didnt show us more about the egyptian link to the show cos they have been dangling that carrot for a while.

Locke is proper dead. I said to myself when the epi was airing, that locke was in their box after watching franks expression. Jacob did bring him back to life after he fell out of the window but I`m kind of left wondering why he did it? Locke must be the most important person to jacob to bring back so it was a perfect cover for the guy who wanted to kill jacob. So Locke was NOT supposed to die after all. But he cant kill him, instead he gets a mortal to do it. Seems kind of like christian not helping locke when he was in the cave. Also Jacob didnt really try to defend himself from being stabbed,in fact he kinda goaded ben into doing it. And whats up with burning him before the others come?

We know Jacob convinced hurley to return to the island.

Even more pissed about Juliet. They took the best looking actress off the show. Crying Bravo guys Ive got my fingers crossed she didnt detonate the bomb.

VINCENT!!!

Bens Moses refrence... Any thoughts?

Whats up with the white background at the end of the show?

I have to rewatch cos I watched last night and it was 5 before i got to sleep (I was watching the new star trek movie Pirate Laugh ) and was at work so Im pretty fried. All I can do is post my observations random as they are.

-Jacob and the Man in Black: Jacob wore a white shirt and the Man in Black - you get it. Good and evil ? Yin and Yang? Light and Dark ? Were they to represent the Biblical Jacob and Esau? Maybe. Biblical Jacob couldn't kill his brother, so he cheated Esau out of his birthright. Our Jacob and Esau apparently hated, but couldn't kill each other, the Man in Black said he needed a "loophole." so he copied John's body and manipulated Ben into killing Jacob .But is Jacob dead ? Like Richard, he also did not age, and apparently had some magical powers, so is he really gone ? Was that the Man in Black in the cabin pretending to be Jacob ?Is the Man in Black related to smokie, is he smokie ?
Interesting that Jacob appeared in all of our Losties lives and touched them physically,Except for poor Juliet. Is that why she's dead, because he didn't bless her ?
The Man in Black accused Jacob of bringing the ship to the island . Want to bet that it was the Black Rock ?
-Did the Man in Black copy other dead bodies from our story? Christian, Claire, Charlie, etc.?
-Jacob gutted a fish and cooked it over the fire.At the end a Pisces(Ben) gutted Jacob and fake John threw his body in the fire. Nice irony there.

-Poor Juliet and Sawyer, I must admit, I cried. But is she really dead ? Logic would tell us so,but who knows? I know Elizabeth Mitchell is signed to appear in the re-make of "V". Maybe she'll appear to Sawyer as a ghost.
-John being dead. Ben was astonished when he awoke and saw John at his cot, and said he never knew anyone to come back from the dead.
Last night Richard also said he never knew anyone to come back from the dead, I guess we should have been listening, huh?
-Rose and Bernard, and Vincent! I loved it! Rose "We're retired" " Are you people still trying to kill each other ?" 'There's a bomb!" "So what?" Laugh
-Ilana's people wondered if Frank was a candidate, a candidate for what ?
Speaking of Ilana, seems like there was a connection between her and Jacob. He said "I came as fast as I could." she didn't seem to be at all surprised to see him at the hospital and answered yes very quickly when he asked for her help.
-Jacob and his tapestry, reminded me of the Fates in Greek mythology. Weren't they weaving a tapestry of life, or something to that effect ?
-The flash at the end, did the bomb go off, or was it another electromagnetic pulse, like when Desmond turned the key ?
-That's all I have for now,I'm going to re-watch it this weekend and will be back with more thoughts.

Sounds to me Ben has the green eyed monster syndrom. Laugh But if Ben would have just shut his moulth and listened to Jacob instead of being so self consumed with self pity. He would have heard Jacob say to fake Locke "so you found a loop hole" and asked what Jacob ment by that statement. He should have asked himself I know why I want to kill Jacob. But why does John want so badly to kill Jacob. Why doesnt he just do it himself.

So- IF Fake John is (smoke moster/ Jacobs nemesis in dark shirt) than Ben was manipulated by smokie. In Dead is dead- Guys that whole epi now gives new meaning and is in a new light. Including follow the leader epi- Gosh this entity is a very powerful manipulating "somethingorother" way scary!!!!

Kinda thought first thought the white background had something to do with the bomb going off. After thinking on it its another reocurring theme.
Flash time travel- light verses dark- good verses evil- ying yang- John Lockes favorite game backgammon. Way back in season 1 John explains to walt about the game. One white the other dark....

I just have one question. If Jacob is keeping Richard young. What happened to Richard when Jacob was killed?

Ever see those shows in which a person grows old and crumbles right before your eyes because what was keeping their youth was gone or distroyed. Honestly I like Richard and his meek mysterous ways Id hate to see that happen to him. I really want to know his story and more of this Jacob/? guy background and why they ended up the way they are.

The translation for the tepestry reads as the following : "May heaven grant you in all things your heart's desire"
Thats 2 christian/bible refrences again to go along with the other litterings of bible refrences we had in a previous episode. I really hope it dosnt go there.

I think you could be right in that richard will start to age straight away but at a normal rate just like anyone else.

Ya I thought it was quite good. I found the action was way better than any other movie of the series but I think the storyline suffered a bit compared to the picard era. It was kinda limited with the storyline but it told the story of them coming together quite well along with the dry humour but I dunno... you cant really compare unless theres a second movie to follow by the same director/writer. 7/10

Ok, Locke ISN'T dead. Or not totally anyway. He is dead for now, but everyone is wrong about Dead is Dead. Jacob is going to bring him back with his last breath.

Why would Jacob have brought Locke back to life when he fell out of the building if his destiny was just to die later on anyway without any great last hurrah.

Also: Theres no way the last plight of the great John Locke was to be choked to death by Mr Linus... i just refuse to believe it.

I don't know how he's coming back, but I get the feeling that however he does, the great battle for the Island in Season6 will be between Esau/Fake-Locke/Black-Shirt-Dude leading the Others and Ilana's team joined by the Losties who will come back from 1977 (they're coming), and (SOMEHOW) the REAL John Locke, who will come in RIGHT at the end, probably even like the cliffhanger of episode15 of next season going into the (*sob* very last ever) finale, and it will be Locke's destiny to bring the battle to its conclusion, destroy the evil spirit and restore order to the Island.

Thats my theory and I'm actually sticking to it...

If things have changed because of the bomb in 1977, John Locke could very well be alive in 2007. The thing that keeps playing over in my head though is not only did Daniel say, "Whatever happened, happened" but also Miles said that the bomb always explodes in 1977. That would mean that things will not change.........wouldn't it?

Is fake Locke a doppleganger? A shape shifter? Was he the "help me" voice in the cabin? John Locke was dead when Flight 316 landed so if fake Locke was (what? a disembodied spirit?) on the Island why did it take his shape? Did it try to kill Jacob while disguised as Christian?

The loophole was that someone else had to kill Jacob? I doubt it would take 100-yrs to find someone to manipulate or convince to kill him. Did Ben have to be the one? Biblical Jacob is the father of Benjamin, does it have significance? Were Jacob and fake Locke playing a game similar to Ben and Widmore? They seem to have the same rule of not being able to kill each other. What is the end game of it all?

Final thought for now: Will Jacob rise from the ashes like the phoenix?

Ok, there is more:
The ash around the cabin.........who cleared part of it away? Was it keeping fake Locke captive? Why was Jacob not in the cabin where Ilana expected him to be? Why order the cabin burned? Is it a portal of some sort?

Was anyone else reminded of the trek to the Radio Tower when the Others were walking in search of Jacob?

Long ago, Eko told John Locke "you're next". Does this mean anything to us now? Was Eko warning Locke that Locke was going to die? Was it a foreshadowing of fake Locke's plans? Is fake Locke connected to Smokey?

Jacob told fake Locke "they're coming." Is this another group that Jacob called to the Island? Will we finally see the LE brought into the story by having Alvar Hanso show up? Is it simply Desmond and Penny that Jacob was referring to?
