Post subject: Bens lie or truth about Charles Widmore

Some of the following contains a theory, sorry if this is in the wrong area.
At the end of season 3 in the epi through the looking glass:

Up until last weeks epi "dead is dead" the question of Charles Widmore morality has been in question. Is he a good guy or bad guy? Is Ben a good guy or bad guy? Who is really "protecting the island"?
First things first:
1. We know Naomi was working for Widmore.
2. We know Charles Widmore had been leader to the natives for a long time. The earliest we saw him was at the age of 17.
3. We know Charles was exciled from the island due to "breaking the rules".
4. We know who sent the frieghter to find the island. And the truth is Widmore wanted Ben.
With that said:
I think that the above statement "every living person" on the Island will be killed told by Ben was the truth.
Widmore ordered Ben to kill Danielle. The reason "to protect the island"
obviously Charles does not like outsiders on the island. Bet that is why the Dharma folks were purged. Charles was still in leadership not Ben. Charles was exiled from the island AFTER the purge when the natives were living at Dharmaville. Charles could have been away during the purge with his off island family. None the less it still explains why so much bad blood between Dharma and Natives.
The bottom line to all this-
If Widmore was able to get back, and resumed leadership. Everyone who Charles thought was not to be on that island would be killed. "To protect the island." 
This would include anyone who followed Ben. All survivors from 316. Along with anyone else who happens along with out being invited by Charles.
The answer to Widmores moratlity good guy/ bad guy.

Who is protecting the island?
a. Charles?
b. Ben?
c. John?
d. none of the above. 
The answer is d I think the island with all its power can protect itself. I think these men want POWER and control. They are using the island for that reason. Where does Richard fit in all of this. I think Richard may be an apparition of the smoke monster. Just like Alex was to Ben, Christian, Bens mother Emily. Yemmy to Echo, John may be an apparition of the smoke monster. The island chooses who it wants to do this to and who it keeps dead. Something to think on.....

Ya I think somethings up with locke... as i explained in the post in season 5 topics.
My main wonder is if widmore knows where mrs hawking is, why doesnt he just pick up the phone and ask her what flight he needs to be on?
He obviously knew about the 2nd flight the o6 were on cos he has sent a new team so the island obviously wont let him back. Why?
Does anyone else think sun made a deal with widmore? might also be a reason why shes stuck in the wrong year. Maybe he knows sun will do anything to get back to jin so maybe widmore could be using her so his team can travel to the same year as the o6???

Thats a good question. Then I started to think I wonder whats in the crate. Those people (team Widmore) seem to be treating that crate with care.............nah probibly not.... Who knows it could be full of C-4.
Hummm on second thought I wonder if that the majic box Ben was telling Locke about.  Im just kidding I know it was a metaphor.....

I was thinking also about what the woman that "arrested" sayid said and the tone of the question.... What lies beneath the shadow of the statue? She obviously knew frank and some of the other passengers were on the island before. But I felt that the way she spoke was as if she was talking to someone from long time ago... richards group time. She could just have easily asked hey whats behind the statue or whats buried over there. Oh and I just wonder did she know about the statue cos she was briefed or maybe was on the island before.
