A good,gloomy Monday morning to all from the 'Burgh(the Steelers won their 1st pre-season game last night,so it's not all that gloomy)Three weeks left before the start of school. We're halfway through the annual check-ups, still have to see the allergist and the eye doctor.The older we get, the more people it seems to take to keep us going :roll: I'm almost done in the dining room. which is where all the school stuff resides.I'm embarrassed to tell you how many part rolls of scotch tape and pairs of scissors I found, and yet I can never find them when I want them.I swear,they get up and hide!I've already started to think about the opening week's lessons, but that's as far as I've gotten -the thinking stage.I'm planning on going to school next week to start putting the room back together:bulletin boards, re-arrange furniture,check in the new books, etc.The real insanity starts on August 27th.Year 36 coming up :shock: LNB do you have trouble with your girls and buying things that are trendy but modest enough,or are they lucky enough to go to schools that demand uniforms?I hate fighting with teen-age girls over the dress code,since the male teachers don't dare say anything about the short skirts and the bare midriffs, it's up to the female teachers to handle it. :yuck:

While you are thinking the summer went to fast, I'm thinking it didn't go quite fast enough!!!!!!!!!! Don't get me wrong, I love my girls but there is only so much you can do to keep them entertained. I got the "I'm bored" the other day from the younger (she's a whole minute younger :lol: ). I pointed at the Wii and said "there's $600 of entertainment for you!" She got my point. Anyway, there are no uniforms at their school but I do not have problems with the way they dress. They aren't trendy girls. They would rather wear comfy tees and jeans then anything else. Our battle has been them wearing jeans even in this heat!! But I can't argue much, I was the same way. Shhhh, don't tell them they are more like me then they think!!

Good morning all. Major flooding going on in parts of the 'Burgh this AM,due to terrible thunderstorms, more are coming this afternoon,it's so hot and humid it almost makes you feel sick if you have to go out, so I'm staying in my house! LNB I'm sure you'll be happy when the munchkins are off to school. Kids seem to crave constant entertainment these days.What happened to the days when we manged to entertain ourselves ?Sigh.Anyway,I'm not upset about going back.I like what I do,it's just that as I get closer to retirement I often think about how nice it will be to be able to stay home and read and be crafty to my heart's content.But that's a few years away ,so high ho,high ho, it's off to work I go :roll: If your girls are happy in jeans and tees ,count your blessings and buy them more.That's so much better than the "Let me see how slutty I can look" trend.I had a girl last year who was busted for dress code violations so many times, she had her own chair in the vice principal's office.I used to pray that she wouldn't drop anything on the floor,because if she had to pick something up she would've been arrested :lol:

As long as their close fit and are clean, they really don't care how "stylish" it is. We've been busy the last few days. Just returned from the Zoo where we spent the entire morning. Hi everyone! I'm back at school and almost all moved into my room, which is lovely. I think I might just have room for a sofa, which would be awesome. Things are definately going to be crazy for the next few days what with moving in and starting classes and all that. One of my friends in my dorm wants to borrow my Lost dvds. Hopefully she'll become a big fan and I'll have a Lost buddy in my dorm. She should become a big fan, because Lost is totally and completely great.

Good evening all. I survived the 1st in-service day,moved a ton of books around,attended meetings,etc. The kids' first day is Wednesday the 29th, we have another day of in-service tomorrow. LNB sounds like you had a great time on your vacation.I know it's hard to get back in the groove. Rosered good luck to you this school year, hope you have some interesting classes. A "Lost" buddy in the dorm is definitely a good thing! :)
